A Celebration of Life
Bobbie Ruth (Black) Alexander was born June 20th, 1939 to Lazener Gibbs and John Henry Black. She is the second of 7 children.
Bobbie, a GOD-fearing woman accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. She was a Sunday School teacher. Bobbie loved Gospel music and she attended Good Shephard Baptist Church on regular basis until her health began to decline.
July 1956 Bobbie married William C. Alexander. They lived in Mississippi, Palo Alto, CA, Sikeston, MO and finally settling in Cleveland, Oh. To this union 5 children were born. Sammie Lee, Bobby Eugene, Janet Marie, Beverly Ann, and Debra Jo. While the children were growing up, Bobbie was a stay at home mom. She returned to work when her youngest daughter was 15 years old.
Bobbie was employed at The Holiday Inn, and finally retiring from the Cleveland Clinic Guest House. She was the supervisor of housekeeping. While working at the Guest House, she received many awards for her outstanding work.
Bobbie lived her later years out in the Mount Saint Joseph Rehab Center (MSJ). The staff at MSJ knew her and loved her. The staff fondly referred to her as Ms. Bobbie.
Bobbie was called from labor to reward on Friday, September 6, 2019. Her parents proceeded her in death.
Bobbie leaves to cherish her memories, her husband William Alexander, five children Sammie Alexander (Martha), Bobby Alexander (Celeste), Janet Hawkins (Jewell), Beverly Dixon (James), Debra Duke (James Mitchell). Thirteen grandchildren: Samantha, Angel, Nika Lynn, Reginald, Miranda, Samuel, Nicole, Jewell Jr, Jeremy, Jasmine, Taylor, Ieshia, India and nine great-grandchildren.
Her siblings: sister Annette Wilson, and six brothers, Charles (Kathy) Black of Olive Branch, MS, Billy (Lula) Black, Gene (Annette) Black, David (Janet) Black of Tennessee. John Black and Ronald Rhea (Jackie) of Iowa and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will forever be missed!!!!
