Older Thomas Patton, Sr., age 76, affectionately known to family and
friends as O.T. of Cleveland, Ohio was born on November 2, 1942 to
John Henry Patton and Viola Patton (Bradford) in Brownsville,
Tennessee. He is the eighth of ten children. O.T. graduated from
Carver High School in 1963 where he participated in several sports,
i.e. track and basketball, which he excelled and was offered a
basketball scholarship to a division II college in Alabama.
Older Thomas, Sr. accepted Christ as his savior at a very early age
along with his sister Maude at New Hope Baptist Church, Brownsville,
Tennessee.
After graduating high school and attending trade school, O.T.,
specializing in welding and working various jobs until he retired from
Meyer Products Inc Cleveland Ohio. He worked as a welder on several
landmark buildings in the Cleveland area, i.e. BP Oil Building, formal
known as Sohio Motor Oil building Inc. Through the guidance of his
parents he acquired a strong work ethic and a passion for farming,
grilling and fishing. He would often debate with his brothers that he
made the best Bar B Que; however, he loved cheeseburgers. He loved
many things about his home in Brownsville, Tennessee, which he often
traveled back-and-forth from Ohio on his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
OT enjoyed riding his motorcycle because it provided him an
opportunity to freely express himself, and to live life to the fullest
by spending time with his friends at the Mystic Knights MC, of
Cleveland, Ohio. This passion for riding is also was shared by his
youngest daughter Bahiya Lewis, and his nieces Tamiko and Cynthia
Patton.
He was joined in matrimony to Connie Jane Patton (Merriweather) and to
this union was his daughter Jacqueline C. Riase - deceased (Dwight);
his sons, Older Patton Jr. (Armina), Andre L. Patton, (Shandrea);
Terrance W. Patton. He married his friend Carrie Morton - deceased,
of Kentucky, to this union his daughter Kimberly Y. Patton was born.
His youngest daughter is Bahiya A. Lewis. Bahiya's mother is Debra
Lewis-Curlee.
O.T. passed away at his residence in Maple Heights, Ohio on Thursday,
October 24th of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his mother
Viola, and his father John H. Patton, his sisters Lucille, Mattie, and
his brothers Walter, Essie, John L, James, Lee Roy, and oldest
daughter Jacqueline (Jackie). He leaves to forever cherish his loving
memory, two sisters Evelyn Tyson and Maude Anthony, his three sons,
Older Jr. (Tommy), Andre, and Terrance (Terry), two daughters,
Kimberly and Bahiya.
