Barbara Chapman Obituary

Barbara Jean Chapman was born on April 17, 1938, in Leavitsburg, Ohio, to Howard Milon and Horace Allen Milon Whitley. She attended Leavitsburg High School and graduated in 1956. Barbara married her first husband, Harris Clark in 1959. They had one son, Joseph Clark. Barbara remarried McKinley Chapman in July of 1978. She was a member of Jonas Temple Church of God of Christ where she was a part of the choir, because she loved to sing. She worked at Highland View Hospital as a Nurse Aide until she resigned to take care of her son. She later worked for Hogan Transportation as a bus driver. Barbara loved to sew, craft, cook, shop and loved helping anybody. She would cook and donate the food to homeless shelters.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Lois Meredith and Lloyd Whitley, her son Joseph Clark, and her husbands Harris Clark and McKinley Chapman.


Barbara is survived in life by her Godchild Cheree Adams (Hassan), her nieces Christal Meredith-Blakely (Thomas), Christine Meredith and Mary-Alice Meredith; three great nephews, Thomas Blakely III, Marquis and Mikhale Freeman; one great niece, Maliyah Brown; three God Grandchildren, Brooklynn Edwards, Carter and Charli Jackson; and a host of friends.  Interment Cleveland Memorial Gardens 4342 Green Road, Cleveland, oHIO
